First Roots Up Event A Success!

Advocacy

On January 29, 2026, Roots Up held its very first ever event: Exploring “Assisted Outpatient Treatment” with a screening of ‘Crazy’ and guest panelists Nze Okoronta, Fern Fairchild and Leah Harris.

With over 90 people registered and such an important topic at hand, we were excited for a good start.

For anyone unfamiliar, ‘Crazy’ is a film featuring a man, Eric, who has been put on an Involuntary Outpatient Commitment order (aka “Assisted Outpatient Treatment” or “AOT”) in home state of Wisconsin. The film follows him and his father as they advocate for change and for respecting Eric’s choices while the system continues to have him picked up by police when he refuses his prescribed psychiatric drugs. The film can be viewed here for a small fee. (If you aren’t able to pay the fee, please e-mail us at info@rootsup.info so we can help you get access!)

You can view the panel portion of the event below.
